We appreciate our landowners' contribution to building a safe trail for our members. In providing land for development of trails, you are helping the PEI ATV Federation to develop a designated area for riders to pass safely through your land. This encourages only approved members to be on your property and discourages unlawful trespassers. The PEI ATV Federation also provides 5 Million Dollar liability insurance to our landowners.

As a member of the PEI ATVF you are helping shape the future of ATVing in PEI and through your membership dollars are contributing to the creation and maintenance of trails across the province. You’re also contributing to increased access for ATVs and helping to protect your right to continue enjoying ATVing in PEI in the future.

As a member of the PEI ATVF you have access to hundreds of kilometers of trails across PEI. Through reciprocal agreements, you can also ride other provinces trails, including New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Ontario ATV Federations.

If access to trails and a real contribution to the sport aren’t enough,the PEI ATVF membership also grants you access to a growing list of membership discounts. PEI ATVF is happy to offer member discounts through retail partners across the province as well as other great perks of membership.

Yes! Atv’s, Side by Sides and dirt bikes are all covered under the same permit with each bike requiring its own permit.

PEI ATV Federation is a not for profit, volunteer run organization that requires many volunteers to operate. Executive/Board of Directors – responsible for directing the PEI ATVF’s operations. Trail Maintenance – always an excellent reason to get out on the trails! Trail maintenance continues until after the end of season . The PEI ATVF member clubs maintain around 350kms of trail. Administration – positions include Treasurer, Secretary, Webmaster, Communications, Membership and Event Coordinators. As is often the case, one Volunteer can wear many hats so the more people to share the workload, the better. If you have time for paperwork and enjoy organizing then make yourself known. Just be an enthusiast — you don’t need to own a quad! Sponsor Relations – always appreciated, our Sponsors defray our costs and bring interest and enthusiasm to our events. The PEI ATVF needs representatives to interact with our Sponsors, ensure that our appreciation is shown and to make our Sponsors aware of all opportunities. Another project on the To-Do List is to create a consistent Sponsorship Recognition Program. Join your local club today and get involved.

What do I wear?

Your helmet is mandatory and must be approved by the Department of Transportation (DOT). If your helmet is old or has ever been dropped, then it is time for a new one. A full helmet or dust mask is more comfortable when the weather is hot and dusty.

Other recommended equipment includes goggles, gloves, and boots.

As for “appropriate” clothing, well, that depends on the weather and the route. Some people wear running shoes, shorts and a T-shirt but for the most part that attire is unsuitable.

Dress to protect yourself from branches, stones, dust, bugs, wind, sun, rain; from just simply being outdoors.

Dress comfortably because you will likely be straddling a bike for hours.

Dress in layers for the weather and the terrain — add a few items when you’re cold or its raining, take off a few when you’re hot.

Riding an ATV in single digit temperatures becomes extremely cold, similar to riding a snowmobile. Dress accordingly.

Also it is good to have extra fuel, drinking water, snacks, rain gear, bug spray, basic repair tools, band-aids, compass, map and cell phone on hand. Note that there may not be cell service in all areas.

ATVing is a lot of fun. You get to go to places that you have never been before, travelling through some very beautiful areas. Enjoy your time in the great outdoors. Stay safe and have a good ride!
